Stokes D. Hooker
SAVANNAH - Stokes D. Hooker passed into eternal rest on July, 7 2008 at Hospice Savannah after a long illness. Born October 5, 1920 in Clyo, GA, Stokes was a WWII veteran serving with the 30th Infantry Division and saw combat in Europe.
He retired from Union Camp Corp. after 40 years of loyal service during which time he never missed a day of work. Stokes was and avid golfer and fisherman and loved his family and will be sorely missed by friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Zita Mae Brant Hooker, 2 brothers, Presley Hooker and Harvey Hooker, and 2 sisters, Lila Smith and Elizabeth Womack.
He is survived by his son Randal Hooker and daughter in law Emma Hooker of Savannah, a daughter Nancy Marston of Savannah, Grandson Randal Hooker Jr. and Granddaughter-in-law Renee Hooker of Rincon, GA.; Great-granddaughters Lucy Shores and Alexandria Hooker, one great-grandson Samuel Gates, One great-great-granddaughter Karmin Shores and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Screven Memorial Park in Sylvania.
